I have a few days off and I thought I'd round up all the books I've read lately. And by lately I mean since August 26th 2017. Basically a year ago. Clearly, I do so well with blogging. I'm not going to include books read for Net Galley because those get a blog post of their own. I am also going to write several blog posts up to these days. Maybe. We don't know for sure what with my blogging tendencies. Let's start!
Lina seemed intentionally dumb-ish. She couldn't pronounce the most
basic words, words that resembled the English language and had shocking
gaps in her general knowledge of everything. However, she had the
ability to wow her fellow Americans with a hard to pronounce word or
piece of trivia.
I overlooked this because this novel grew on me. I rooted for her, for every character, I wanted to learn what would happen next. I liked that there was more than a love story to this novel. Actually, the love part was mostly in the background plan, which was so much better.
The novel gave me the fuzzy, cheesy, summer vibe I was after in the first place.

It was funny, it had a slow rhythm, it held my attention, maybe a tad
too long and repetitive, but not a deal breaker. The setting of the
story makes me want to pack my warm and fuzzy clothes and head to the
Northern Islands of UK. Of course, I would like to eat all the food. My
expectations weren't high; I was just looking for a summer read.
I liked Flora. The references to Snapchat and other social media mediums made it read real and contemporary. She kept saying "Shut up!" when she had no argument in her squabbles with her brothers or Lorna - that's a real character right there!
The love part didn't interest me so much, I paid more attention to her development as a person. I liked how the novel ended, and the atmosphere it created.

I've always thought little of chick-lit, but they are compelling stuff
for listening to at the office on slow days. Not to mention, my Pop
Culture Studies professor in college had Sophie Kinsella on the list of
mandatory reading. I mean, this is further reading way past college. I'm
a serious student like that.

I was on a Sophie Kinsella kick. It was a nice listen, it was interesting to see a YA from Kinsella. It was a more serious topic, and nicely approached.

I can barely remember what this Romanian novel is about. I remember it as a slow read, as most Romanian literature is for me, unfortunately. It had that too hot summer feel I always associate with Romanian novels/books set in summer in Romania, where you can barely move, you are sweaty, and you just wanna lay on a bench under a tree. For some reason, I gave it 4*. I must have liked it when I was reading it. *raises shoulders*
